Concha is a structure that have serious tasks in respiration.  There are 3 pieces on the right and 3 pieces on the left and called middle bottom and upper nose Concha.

A normal healthy person who is on rest breaths about 15 times per minute.  When a person starts performing this number increases. So even a person is on rest he breaths in and out every 4 seconds. Theoretically breathing in lasts shorter than breathing out (average 1.5 seconds). Nose, in this very short period of 1.5 sec., whatever the outer atmosphere conditions are, takes in about 600 ml. air via concha and degrade or upgrade to the level which our body can use. They do this change by the blood vessels on the concha.
